• Portable Sawmill – U.P. MI & N. WI

DON’T LET GOOD WOOD GO TO WASTE.

HD Cuts brings the portable sawmill to your property and turns your logs into boards, slabs, beams, and mantels you can actually build with.

10 Years Milling

Owned & operated by Hunter Ayers. A decade of practical experience milling U.P. species: maple, oak, cedar, pine, and birch.

Why HD Cuts

That tree could be something worth keeping.

Every time a good tree gets cut up for firewood or left to rot, something valuable gets lost. If you’ve got logs sitting on your property, there’s a good chance they could become something worth keeping.

HD Cuts is a portable sawmill service based in Iron Mountain, Michigan. We come to you, mill your logs on-site, and leave you with usable lumber. No hauling required and no wasted wood.

How it works

It’s Simpler Than You Think.

Three steps from log on the ground to lumber you can build with. We handle everything in between.

You Have Logs

Storm damage, land clearing, a tree that needed to come down. Whatever brought those logs to the ground, don’t burn them yet.

We Come to You

HD Cuts brings the portable sawmill directly to your property. No transporting logs, no hauling equipment. We handle the setup and the milling.

You Get Usable Lumber

Boards, live edge slabs, beams, mantels, custom cuts. You walk away with lumber you can actually use for your next project.

BEAMS

Structural or decorative, we cut beams to fit your project from the logs you already have.

MANTELS

A fireplace mantel cut from a tree on your property is the kind of thing people notice. Custom cuts, built to last.

CUSTOM CUTS & SPECIALTY PROJECTS

Not every log fits a standard category. If you’ve got something specific in mind, let’s talk about it.

From the field

Real Logs. Real Lumber. Real Projects.

“I had a big maple come down after a storm and honestly wasn’t sure what to do with it. Hunter came out, milled the whole thing, and now it’s sitting in my shop waiting to become a dining table. Couldn’t believe how smooth the whole thing went.”
